Freebies 2013Shortland Street has edged out Coronation Street in the battle for the best TV show at the 2013 Freeview Awards.

The winning margin was a narrow 35 votes with Tv2’s Revenge taking the third place spot.

TV One reigned supreme in the best channel category ahead of TV2.

Freeview General Manager Sam Irvine believes the results are great for local TV.

Revenge creator Mike Kelley has confirmed that he is stepping down from his role as showrunner and executive producer on the series. “I’m excited about finishing post production on the season two finale, which I hope will stand among the best episodes of the series thus far. Continued success to all,” he said.

American Network offers $10 million for proof of Bigfoot
American network Spike TV is creating a new reality show called 10 Million Dollar Bigfoot Bounty, and will feature teams on a mission to find proof of Bigfoot’s existence. The teams will include scientists, zoologists, seasoned trackers, and “actual Bigfoot hunters”, according to the network, and will be shot in various parts of the US. Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane will host the 85th Academy Awards. The Awards show producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a statement, ”We are thrilled to have Seth MacFarlane host the Oscars. His performing skills blend perfectly with our ideas for making the show entertaining and fresh.”

Happy Days star reportedly homeless
Erin Moran, who played Joanie Cunningham on Happy Days, is reported to be homeless, after being kicked out of the trailer she was living in with her husband and mother in law, the latter of whom grew tired of her hard-partying ways. Moran had been living in a trailer park in Indiana after being evicted from her California home. In July, Moran and her Happy Days castmates were each awarded $65,000 after they filed a lawsuit to get revenue from licensing and merchandise of Happy Days. RadarOnline reports that she has blown nearly all that money already, however.

The Walking Dead’s Scott Wilson arrested

Scott Wilson, who plays Hershal on The Walking Dead, has been arrested and charged with drunk driving in Georgia, where the show is filmed. The arresting officer wrote that Wilson said he had been drinking wine and scotch at a restaurant, and was swaying when he stepped out of the car. Wilson then asked if he could do yoga poses instead of a field sobriety test.
