Saturday Night Live has courted controversy over a parody ad that aired during this weekend’s episode hosted by Dakota Johnson. The clip sees a Dad tearfully farewelling his daughter, on her way to what we assume is college, only to be surprised at the end:

Joss Whedon has hinted at what to expect from his new S.H.I.E.L.D. TV series. “It’s not about murder, and it’s not about crime, and it’s not people looking into their own belly buttons,” he said. “It’s about people who are trying to help each other, and that’s one of the things I loved about comic books. They had costumes and the villains were cool [but] they stood for something, and I like doing a show that does that. We’re trying very hard to be true to [Marvel’s] ethos and also to the structure of their universe, so it is definitely a Marvel show.”

Hulk TV series on hold

Guillermo del Toro has said that his proposed Hulk TV series has been put on hold since the release of The Avengers movie last year. “I had one more meeting after Avengers with Jeph Loeb from Marvel and he said, ‘We’re working on it, we’re waiting for a writer’,” the director explained. He gave me the name of the writer and their resume and I said, ‘That sounds great, let’s wait for him’, because we had delivered a teleplay and I haven’t heard since then.”

Van Der Beek returning to HIMYM

James Van Der Beek will return to How I Met Your Mother after first making an appearance in a 2008 episode. The former Dawson’s Creek actor will play the same role, that of Robin’s egotistical ex-boyfriend. Continue reading »

Jamie Foxx has been confirmed to be hosting an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live. The actor will guest host the December 8 episode with Ne-Yo serving as the musical guest.

Sheridan loses appeal

Former Desperate Housewives actress Nicolette Sheridan has lost her appeal against producers of the drama series. Her lawsuit, which began in 2010, claimed that she had been wrongfully terminated from her role on the show and stated that she had been a victim of assault and sexual harassment.
