24 movie to shoot later this year

Kiefer Sutherland has confirmed that the 24 movie will enter production in about eight months’ time. The actor told David Letterman on his show that he had originally hoped to shoot the project in the next six weeks but scheduling conflicts stood in the way.

No Desperate Housewives movie

Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry says he has no plans to bring the TV series to the big screen once its final season screens this year. “After eight years, I think we’re done,” he said. “I’m happy about it. It’s not a bad thing. I feel very satisfied with where we are.”

Terra Nova producers optimistic about second season

The executive producers of new season series Terra Nova say they are “guardedly optimistic” about the prospects of the series getting renewed for a second season. “We’re guardedly optimistic; we’re hoping for good news any day,” said Rene Echevarria. “There are a lot of factors in play and a lot of things for the network to consider. We know we have a lot of people there who like the show and we have a core audience that seems to like what we’re doing. We’re hoping for good news soon.”

Farrelly to write new comedy

There’s Something About Mary writer Peter Farrelly is set to write a new comedy series for the CBS network. Farrelly is working on a pilot based around a group of six parents and step-parents who are bringing up two children.

Radcliffe to host SNL

Daniel Radcliffe will host the second episode of Saturday Night Live’s 2012 schedule. The Harry Potter actor has been confirmed to make his debut on the series on the January 14 episode.

Parents slam new Glee episode

Conservative US watchdog group the Parents Television Council has slammed the Fox network for the Glee episode entitled “The First Time”, which deals with high school students losing their virginity. “The fact that Glee intends to not only broadcast, but celebrate children having sex is reprehensible,” PTC president Tim Winter said in a statement. “Teen sex is now more prevalent on TV than adult sex and ‘Glee’ is only playing into that trend.”

Samberg sued over SNL sketches

Saturday Night Live’s Andy Samberg is being sued by a production team who claim they had a hand in creating two of his sketches. StarStrukk Productions claim they created the music for the sketches ‘Shy Ronnie’ and Like a Boss’.

Merchant says new series is not controversial

Stephen Merchant has insisted that his new series Life’s Too Short with Ricky Gervais is not intended to be controversial despite the fact it features a dwarf actor in its lead role. “It’s not intended to be controversial. It was developed in collaboration with Warwick [Davis]… so it’s not there to be provocative.”

Sons of Anarchy renewed

Sons of Anarchy has been renewed for a fifth season by its network, FX. The biker drama is currently screening its fourth season in the US.

Stone and Segel to host SNL

Emma Stone and Jason Segel have been confirmed to host upcoming episodes of Saturday Night Live. It will be Stone’s second time hosting the show while for Segel it will be his first.

Sesame Street channel hacked

Hackers briefly hijacked the Sesame Street YouTube channel and replaced the clips with videos of an adult nature. For about 20 minutes the page featured clips from an XXX film before YouTube removed the channel.

Wayans developing comedy

Marlon Wayans has begun work on a new comedy series for ABC that will centre on two brothers who work as police officers. Wayans will write, executive produce and feature in the project.

Former Spooks regular returning

Matthew Mcfadyn, a former member of the Spooks cast, will return for the show’s forthcoming tenth season finale. The actor played the lead role in the series un the first three seasons.
