Charlie Sheen has made a surprise appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, storming onto the stage during Kimmel’s interview with Mark Cuban. Sheen kissed the host on the lips before flinging t-shirts bearing his slogans into the crowd.

Mirren to host SNL

Dame Helen Mirren has been announced as guest host of an episode of Saturday Night Live, marking her first time on the American comedy series. Mirren will take the reins of the April 9 episode that will also feature the Foo Fighters.

Cryer joins theatre production

Charlie Sheen’s Two and a Half men co-star Jon Cryer has landed a role in a stage production of Company with the New York Philharmonic. Cryer will join How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris and Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks in the production.

Murphy named Comedy Icon

Eddie Murphy has been named the recipient of the ‘Comedy Icon’ prize for the inaugural Comedy Awards for Comedy Central. Murphy will be honoured at the upcoming ceremony on March 26.

Gervais and Arnett to appear on The Office

Ricky Gervais and Arrested Development’s Will Arnett will appear on the season finale of The Office in the US. Steve Carell will have departed the series by the time the pair hit the screen.

Elton John to host SNL

Sir Elton John has been confirmed to guest host an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live in April. The musician will mark his first appearance on the show since his last visit in 1982.

Sheen plans tell-all book

Two and A Half Men actor Charlie Sheen is currently shopping around a “tell-all” book which would detail his time working on the sitcom. Sheen is seeking $10m for publishing rights to the book which will chart his 8-year run on the show.

Sarandon to guest on 30 Rock

Susan Sarandon has signed on to make a guest appearance in an episode of 30 Rock this season. The actress has made TV appearance before in the likes of Friends, Rescue Me and ER.

Johnson plans TV return

Former Miami Vice actor Don Johnson is planning a return to TV with a role in a new NBC series A Mann’s World. Johnson will reportedly play the lead role in the series which centres on a hair stylist who finds himself struggling to stay relevant in the industry.

Lady GaGa to perform on Idol finale

Lady GaGa looks set to perform on the season finale of American Idol, coming up in May. The singer will reportedly perform songs from her upcoming LP which is due to be released that month.

Tributes flow for Frank Whitten

Robyn Malcolm has paid tribute to her former Outrageous Fortune co-star Frank Whitten who plassed away over the weekend, saying: “We were Frank’s screen family for only a few years but in that time we got to know him and adore him as a wicked, irreverent man of lethal wit, a heart of gold and one of the best actors we’ll ever work with. We all respected him enormously but in good ‘Outrageous’ spirit we treated him with the disrespect and irreverence he loved.”

Top Gear targets the Welsh

Several weeks after labelling Mexicans “lazy, feckless, flatulent and overweight”, the presenters of Top Gear have offended another nationality. The Welsh are upset over certain comments on a recent episode where they remark that fast cars should be tested on Welsh roads “because no-one wants to live there.”

Miley Cyrus to host SNL

Miley Cyrus will guest host Saturday Night Live for the first time early next month. The teen actress and singer will take the reins of the comedy sketch show for the March 5 episode in the US.

Transformers actor lands Charlie’s Angels role

Transformers actor Ramon Rodriquez has joined the cast of the new Charlie’s Angels reboot. The actor, who featured alongside Shia LaBeouf in the second Transformers film, will play the role of Bosley in the pilot.

Burn Notice prequel given release date

A release date has been set for the Burn Notice prequel film, which will follow series star Bruce Campbell’s former-Navy Seal Sam Axe over the course of his final mission. The prequel will screen in the US in April.

Brand to host SNL

British comic Russell Brand will make his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live this month. Brand confirmed the news on his Twitter feed, saying: “I am hosting Saturday Night Live, Feb 12th. If you have any sketches/jokes please send. Remember, I will ONLY play drug addicts (sic).”

Cast confirmed for Charlie’s Angels reboot

Producers of the new Charlie’s Angels reboot have confirmed that Rachael Taylor, Minka Kelly and Annie Ilonzeh will play the three angels while Austin Powers actor Robert Wagner has signed on to voice Charlie. Production on the pilot is expected to begin next month.

Pilot picked up from Gossip Girl creator

The creator of Gossip Girl and The OC Josh Schwartz has had a new pilot called Georgetown picked up by ABC. The pilot centres on young people working in Washington and will be executive produced by Schwartz’s Gossip Girl colleague Stephanie Savage.

MTV continues with Skins

Despite losing its ninth advertiser, MTV will stand by its US version of Skins. The series has attracted a considerable amount of publicity thanks to its explicit nature but MTV programming chief David Janollari says the publicity has been positive for the series. “I think it’s always good when people are talking about you and people are certainly talking about (Skins),” he said.

Super Bowl Glee episode geared towards guys

Producers of Glee have promised male viewers that the upcoming Super Bowl episode of the series will appeal to them. The episode will open with bikini-clad girls performing a dance number to Katy Perry’s ‘California Gurls’ while BMX riders perform tricked overhead.

Californication renewed for fifth season

Californication has been renewed for a fifth season by its network Showtime. The David Duchovny series has been confirmed for another 12 episode run following a successful fourth season premiere.

Eisenberg to host SNL

Jesse Eisenberg has been confirmed to host an upcoming episode of Saturday Night Live. The actor, who recently featured in The Social Network, will make his debut on the long-running comedy show on the January 29 episode.

Sarah Michelle Gellar lands pilot role

Sarah Michelle Gellar is hoping to make a return to primetime TV with a new pilot she is filming for American network CBS. The actress has signed on for the lead role in Ringer, a series that follows a young woman on the run who take on the identity of her rich, successful twin sister.

Celebrity Apprentice cast named

A new cast of celebrities have been named for the next instalment of The Celebrity Apprentice. Among those taking part this year will be Survivor contestant Richard Hatch, rapper Lil Jon, actor Gary Busey and Meat Loaf.
