Sculpture Diaries

ARTS CHANNEL – Tuesdays from 6 September, 7.40pm

A landmark new three-part series for Channel 4. Waldemar Januszczak, art critic for The Sunday Times shares his life long passion for the world’s sculpture. A quirky and at times dark journey through sculptures, Januszczak’s journeys take him all over the world. From visiting a remote village in Nigeria to the legendary Easter Island where he visits the extraordinary sculptural legacy that civilisation left behind then to Lithuania where he visits a theme park filled with old Communist statues of Lenin, Stalin and Marx. Finally he embarks on a road trip through icons of the American land art movement (including exclusive access with James Turrell and his unfinished Roden Crater). Later in the series he uncovers the mystery behind Peru’s Nazca Lines and Machu Picchu, decodes Stonehenge and builds a brand new artwork with Andy Goldsworthy.
