Heigl asks for Grey’s return

Former Grey’s Anatomy actress Katherine Heigl says she has asked the showrunners if she can return to the series. “I’ve told them I want to [return],” she told E! “Being a showrunner and being a writer of a TV series like that is so complicated… balancing about 40 different storylines, so I don’t know if it fits in to their sort of vision for this season or next or however many seasons it goes. I really, really, really want to see where [Izzie] is. I just want to know what happened to her and where she went and what she’s doing now.”

Rossi to guest on Alcatraz

Sons of Anarchy actor Theo Rossi, who plays Juice, will make a guest appearance on the new J.J. Abrams series Alcatraz. Rossi was involved in the 2008 film Cloverfield, for which Abrams was a producer.

An episode of the Sex and the City prequel – The Carrie Diaries – has been ordered by The CW network. The series is based on a novel by author Candice Bushnell, which centres on Carrie Bradshaw’s time at a small town high school.

Entourage movie going ahead

The cast and crew of Entourage, which wrapped its final season in the US yesterday, say they are committed to doing a movie in the future. “We’re going to do a movie,” said creator Doug Ellin. “We’re going to do it. It’s a question of when and how quick. We’ll sit down and come up with an idea.”

Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes has sold a drama project to ABC in the US. The series will focus on a young lawyer who is fired from his firm and decides to start his own firm with a group of lawyer misfits.

Ashton Kutcher’s Two and a Half Men trailer

Ashton Kutcher has a $2 million trailer in which to relax between takes on Two and a Half Men. The 30-ton trailer is two stories high, 52 feet long and more than a little extravagant.

A rep for Sarah Jessica Parker has denied rumours that Sex and the City will be returning to TV. The rep said the story was “completely false”.

Actress Morgan Fairchild will make a guest appearance in an episode of Bones. The actress recently guest-starred on Chuck and has had a recurring role on Friends.

Cox to direct Cougar Town episode

Courteney Cox will direct an episode of Cougar Town’s third season. Cox, who plays Jules, has had directing experience on a short movie in 2008.

Plans are already underway to make a television mini-series on the life of Amy Winehouse. The project is looking for financial backing from co-production companies in the US.

MTV cancels RJ Berger

MTV has cancelled its teen comedy series The Hard Times of RJ Berger after only two seasons. The series has struggled for audiences in the US since its second season premiere earlier in the year.

Bratt returning to Modern Family

Benjamin Bratt will return to Modern Family to reprise his role as the ex-husband of Gloria (Sofia Vergara). Bratt first appeared on the comedy in season one.

Possible cameos for Cole

British singer Cheryl Cole is said to be in negotiations over guest appearances in Glee and How I Met Your Mother. Earlier this year Cole was axed from the US version of The X Factor.

Gervais on Curb

Comedian Ricky Gervais has reportedly signed on to appear in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. The Office creator will play as himself in the episode with further details kept under wraps. The next season of the series is set for next year.

Underbelly lawsuit

The woman who took legal action over the portrayal of her in Underbelly: The Golden Mile is now suing the network and production company for defamation. The ex-NSW policewoman is claiming the character of Wendy (Jessica Tovey) is based on her and that her relationship with club kingpin John Ibrahim was never sexual as it is portrayed in the crime drama series.

Breaking Bad renewed

Breaking Bad has been renewed for a fourth season after its third proved extremely popular. The show was in limbo due to budgeting issues between its American network and studio but the pair have reached an agreeable sum to allow the show to continue for at least one more season.

New MTV Twitter series

MTV are launching a new reality show that will embrace the online medium Twitter in a way never seen before. The network is looking for a TJ or Twitter Jockey in a new series which will pit eighteen hopefuls against one another for popularity in the online community. Sounds enthralling.

Union joins Army Wives spin-off

Flashforward’s Garbrielle Union has landed a new role in the Army Wives spin-off series set for release later this year. Union, who played Demitri’s fiancé Zoey in Flashforward, will take the role of a detective in the spinoff which will begin with an “embedded pilot” in the original series.

SJP fronts new reality series

Sex and the City actress Sarah Jessica Parker is featuring in a new reality show in the US which is seeking the next great artist. The show, entitled Work of Art: The Next Great Artist, follows the typical reality format as seen on the likes of MasterChef and Next Top Model but is interested in the pure artistic skills of the contestants.

Housewives musical?

Desperate Housewives actress Dan Delany has pitched an idea for a musical adaptation of the hit series to creator Marc Cherry. Delany, who plays Katherine, said she pitched the idea some time ago but Cherry wasn’t interested until Glee came along.

Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall will star in a new HBO show called Sensitive Skin – which is an adaption of the British comedy series starring Joanna Lumley.

The show is in many ways similar to Sex and the City – a middle-aged married mother in New York who rediscovers her sexuality and starts to question the choices she’s made in life.

After years of rumour and speculation, Golden Globe winning actress Sarah Jessica Parker has finally confirmed that a film version of hit TV series Sex and the City is in the works.

Speaking on television show Entertainment Tonight, she said: “This is a very complicated puzzle to put back – not for the reason that people speculate about because as far as I know all of the actresses want to be together again for this movie. Somehow in my brain I think the timing is fortuitous because if we had done it years ago . . . we couldn’t have done it now. I’m hopeful and very excited about it.”

Parker played the part of sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw in the show which came to an end after six rating-busting seasons in 2004.
