VIBE – Thursday 29 July, 9.30pm (encores Sunday 1 August, 8.30pm)

Whose style will make the final cut?

The third season comes to a close as the final three stylist’s team up with fashion designer Henry Duarte for their biggest challenge yet. A few familiar faces return to assist the finalists in this no-holds-barred final challenge. Who will be cut, and who will prove to be… Shear Genius?

VIBE – Thursdays from 27 May, 9.30pm (replays Sundays 8.30pm)

Matthew McConaughey’s baby mama makes her hosting debut in the latest season of the hair-styling competition series that discovered the “Gordon Ramsey of hairdressers” (Tabatha Coffey of Tabatha’s Salon Takeover). The world of styling is much bigger than just a salon, and Shear Genius offers a glimpse into that captivating and little-known arena. This season the challenges are more glamorous, the hair more knotty, and the competition more fierce, as the contestants attempt to demonstrate that their style is a cut above the rest.

International model and handbag designer Camila Alves (better known as Matthew McConaughey’s girlfriend) joins the Shear Genius team as host, alongside returning judge Kim Vo and new series judge Jonathan Antin, celebrity stylist and former star of Blow Out. Shear Genius has gone international for the first time ever and, after combing the world in search of top stylists, has assembled 12 remarkably talented individuals who will raise the level of competition as never seen before. The winner will receive $100,000 in prize money, an apprenticeship with Nexxus and the chance to style hair for an Allure magazine photo shoot. Throughout the course of the series, the stylists’ skills are put to the test as they find themselves working behind the scenes at an iconic hotel, styling a celebrity at a glamorous home in the Hollywood Hills, and even in a rural barn.

VIBE – Thursdays from 10 December, 7.30pm

A group of talented hairstylists from around the world (including Tabatha Coffey from Tabatha’s Salon Takeover) will literally go head-to-head in creative challenges that require more than just talent with a comb and scissors. Whether it’s the bob, bouffant, perm, or chignon, hair becomes an art form as the contestants with a flair for hair compete in challenges that could put them one step closer to being crowned a SHEAR GENIUS. Hosted by Golden Globe-nominated actress, designer, and entrepreneur Jaclyn Smith (Charlie’s Angels), this reality series offers a behind-the-scenes look at the competitive and creative world of high-end hairstyling.

VIBE – Sunday 11 October, 7.30pm

Who will be declared Fan Favourite, following in the footsteps of Tabitha Coffey (Tabitha’s Salon Takeover)? And who will “blow away” the competition to win the coveted title of SHEAR GENIUS?

The pressure mounts when the finalists have a one-on-one meeting with Allure Editor-in-Chief Linda Wells as she reviews their portfolio and critiques their performance on the show.

During the final elimination challenge, the three remaining stylists are given three hours to cut and style four models. They are tasked with creating looks to tell the story of one woman throughout her life, at ages eighteen, thirty, forty-five and sixty.

Famed celebrity stylist Sally Hershberger (whose famous clients include A-listers such as Tom Cruise, Meg Ryan, Sandra Bullock, Renee Zellweger and Julia Roberts) joins Jaclyn Smith and Kim Vo as the final guest judge, and one lucky contestant wins $100,000 in seed money and a chance to style hair for an Allure magazine feature.

VIBE – Sunday 13 September, 7.30pm

“Once upon a time, there were seven little stylists. All of them worked and toured in different salons. But they were taken away from all of that to perform thrilling hair challenges.”

The competition gets “colourful” when the stylists get creative with hair colour, using a bright palette of greens, blues, and purples on their clients during the short cut challenge. Emmy-award nominated actress Kate Jackson joins host Jaclyn Smith as guest judge for a mini Charlie’s Angels reunion, where the stylists must recreate modern versions of the famous signature Charlie’s Angels looks for the elimination challenge. Will they have what it takes to impress the original experts?

VIBE – Sundays from 9 August, 7.30pm

Get ready for crazy challenges and more bitching than you can shake a pair of scissors at in the brand new season of “Shear Genius”. If you like your reality TV with a fashion edge and a bitchy finish you will ADORE “Shear Genius”. Hosted by Golden Globe-nominated actress, designer, and entrepreneur Jaclyn Smith (yes – from Charlie’s Angels), the second season of “Shear Genius” offers a behind-the-scenes look at the competitive and creative world of high-end hairstyling. With famed celebrity hairstylist Kim Vo and Allure beauty editor Kelly Atterton as lead judges, the competitors are mentored by accomplished stylist Rene Fris as they tackle a new challenge every week. Always challenging and inventive these tasks are designed to push the contestants out of their comfort zone, requiring more than just finesse with a comb and scissors. The winning stylist needs to possess the ability to look after their clients, manage staff and work as part of a team, all at once – who will cut it this season? With guests judges that include Alison Sweeney (The Biggest Loser), Kate Jackson (Charlie’s Angels) and Tabatha Coffey (Tabatha’s Salon Takeover and fan fave from series 1 of Shear Genius), which stylists will get “the chop” early and who will “blow away” the competition?! Utterly addictive viewing.

VIBE – Saturday 8 November, 7.30pm

The remaining eight stylists can only hope that Vanessa Williams does not channel Wilhelmina Slater when she judges their potentially red-carpet worthy hairstyles! It’s night and day on the fourth episode of SHEAR GENIUS. Stylists must create two unique hairstyles that allow their models to go from daytime conservative to nighttime glamour. Later, in the elimination challenge, the contestants must create a red-carpet hairstyle for celebrity guest judge Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty), known for glamour both on and off screen.
“Being a surprise judge on ‘Shear Genius’ was a blast,” said Williams. “I think the contestants were surprised by my hair styling knowledge and I really enjoyed being constructive with my opinions from a celebrity point of view. There were stylists there who I would definitely hire to style my hair for an event.”
