New deals with Disney, NBC Universal and BBC Worldwide Australia & New Zealand expand Quickflix offering in quality TV drama series Quickflix today announced that it has entered into agreements with The Walt Disney Company Australia, NBC Universal and BBC Worldwide ANZ to license popular and award‐winning TV series programming for its streaming service.

Content licensed under these new agreements includes seasons of Emmy Award‐winning drama series Downton Abbey, Golden Globe Award‐winning US comedy series Parks and Recreation, BAFTA‐winning Mrs Brown’s Boys and other series from NBC Universal; drama series Revenge, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and other series from Disney/ABC Television Group; as well as hit series Sherlock, Orphan Black, Doctor Who and many other series from BBC Worldwide ANZ. Moffat confirms planning on Sherlock S4/S5

The third season of Sherlock wraps up this week in the UK (coming to TV One as part of their new season, so “soon”), marked by a spcial gala screening of the final episode. Producer and writer Steven Moffat took the opportunity to share some exciting news about the series: “Rather excitingly, Mark [Gatiss] and I, for no particular reason, we just got out of the rain and sat at the top of the production bus […] and we just started plotting out what we could do in the future. Here’s a fan’s pretty well produced short crossover story where two of the BBC’s characters paths cross.

“Months after an encounter with a mysterious ‘Doctor’, Sherlock becomes obsessed with discovering more about this impossible man… until the man makes an unexpected return.”

In anticipation of both the Doctor Who Christmas Special and the Third Series of Sherlock, I created a small crossover story. Though it may not be perfect, I’m still pretty happy with the results.

A fourth season of Sherlock has been confirmed by actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays the lead role. “We’ve agreed to two more series, but I could get into trouble for saying that,” Cumberbatch told Radio Times. “All I know at the moment is I’m doing these three [the third season] and another three.”

Cumberbatch to voice PM on The Simpsons

Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch will voice two characters when he cameos in The Simpsons this year. The actor will voice the British Prime Minister and a “snake-like character”.

Injury not affecting Game of Thrones filming

HBO has said that the broken ankle suffered by Game of Thrones actor Kit Harrington will not affect the filming of season three. Harrington plays Jon Snow in the series. Continue reading »
