They have danced their little butts off for the last nine weeks, but now the time has come to name the $100,000 winner in this week’s Step It Up & Dance season finale, screening on Wednesday, January 12th at 7:30pm on C4.
When the creators of Project Runway and Top Chef approached Elizabeth Berkley about hosting a new reality dance series called Step It Up & Dance, the actress immediately said “yes”.
“It was a no-brainer,” Berkley explains. “[Production company] Magical Elves has this incredible winning formula, so I knew it would be good quality.”
“And when you have the level of talent involved, it’s amazing to see how people, literally – and I hate to use the pun – step it up.”
Over its season Step It Up & Dance has followed 12 dancers competing in a variety of dance styles, including Latin and hip hop.
Each week the weakest dancer was eliminated from the competition, until only three dancers remain for this week’s final call-back, during which $100,000 will go to the winner.
“No one can hand you anything as a dancer,” Berkley explains about the series’ grand prize. “You have to earn it, that’s why Step It Up & Dance has been such an fun show to watch.”
“In an age where everyone wants to be famous for nothing, this show is refreshing because as a dancer, you can’t just get by. It’s about hard work.”
