The Brokenwood MysteriesPrime’s new local drama The Brokenwood Mysteries not only resonated with Kiwis but has knocked out some stiff international competition to win Bronze in the TV Drama category at the 2015 New York Festivals International Television and Film Awards.

The Brokenwood Mysteries is comprised of four two-hour murder mystery stories set in a seemingly quiet country town where the town’s newest resident, Detective Inspector Mike Shepherd, finds that murder lurks in even the most homely location. Prime TV’s new local series The Brokenwood Mysteries charmed Kiwi viewers last night to give the channel its highest Sunday night rating in the 8.30pm timeslot all year.

Nearly 200,000 viewers watched Detective Inspector Mike Shepherd (Neill Rea) and his off-sider Detective Kristin Sims (Fern Sutherland) solve the first suspicious death in Brokenwood last night – double Prime’s normal ratings in this time slot.

Prime achieved a 13% share in the 5+ demographic, similar to the international blockbuster movie Prometheus on TV3 which also screened last night. Continue reading »

Along with the debut of Gotham on TV2, Prime launched their new homegrown murder mystery series The Brokenwood Mysteries. The two hour long episode did extremely well for Prime, delivering an average audience of 191,340 viewers.

Gotham came in with 278,540 while the return of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. came in with 186,940. While Call The Midwife enjoyed 378,570 post MKRNZ, TV3’s Sunday night movie came in with 169,170. Continue reading »
