Jamie’s best buddy, Ben, is celebrating his 30th birthday. Knowing that he’s missing his Antipodean home, Jamie decides to throw Ben a party to remember. And what could be more appropriate for an Australian ex-pat than a barbecue – even if Jamie’s flat hasn’t got any outside space to throw it in? Undaunted, the imaginative host starts cooking the barbecue feast. On the menu are boiled potatoes with avocado and cress salad, followed by Cajun spicy rub and Asian marinade, with celery, parsley and pomegranate salad.

Tonight, Jamie works with several Australian chefs. They are all keen surfers but convinced that nowhere could ever match the Aussie surf. Piling into the camper van, Jamie takes them to Porth in North Cornwall, the British equivalent of Bondi, in an attempt to prove them wrong. To make them feel at home he also plans a beach-barbeque, after a trip to the local shops.

Jamie is a close friend of photographer David Loftus, who lives on a houseboat on the River Thames. In this episode, Jamie is to be godfather to his daughter and, in honour of the occasion, has offered to cook the Christening celebration dinner onboard the houseboat. To kick things off, he makes jellies for grown-ups with fresh fruits (blueberries, blackberries, redcurrants and raspberries), plus elderflower cordial and, most important of all, Prosecco. With those taken care of, he prepares a range of dipping sauces for some beautiful, fresh oysters, before producing a dish of roasted brill with lemons. Last on the menu is roasted asparagus with pancetta.

Jamie gets the call he’s been waiting for. The Naked Chef is a huge fan of Jamiroquai and Jay Kay, the singer, has invited him over to his place in Princes Risborough to cook for the band. Despite the rock ‘n’ roll and Ferrari-fuelled lifestyle, Jay Kay is an organic enthusiast and keen gardener. He has huge vegetable gardens, fruit orchards and a trout lake in the grounds of his mansion. With a dessert of pine nut and honey tart taken care of, Jamie gets busy preparing Jay Kay’s favourite meal – roast beef with all the trimmings. With Jay Kay giving a helping hand, Jamie cooks up huge Yorkshire puds, baked onions and produce fresh from Jay Kay’s garden, including Swiss chard, carrots and beetroot.

He sources the best British scallops off the West coast of Scotland, barbecues on the beach with his surf-mad Aussie chef mates, visits the wilds of the New Forest with Italian friend and mentor Gennaro, and goes back to his old school in Essex to cook for a class of hungry pupils.

This week’s dip into the hectic lifestyle of the Naked Chef finds him cooking up a feast for Jools. What with working in the restaurant, band rehearsals and everything else on his busy schedule, he has devoted very little time to her. Desperate to make amends, Jamie rustles up a romantic lunch at home. He turns on the oven – and the charm – and whips up a delicious meal of sea bass baked in a bag with herbs and red onion with a combination of accompaniments including fennel and radish salad, plus new potatoes cooked with dill and olive oil. Rounding off the proceedings with a wickedly rich baked chocolate tart, Jamie discovers his efforts have paid off and all is forgiven. If only it was always this easy!
