Typical teenage life collides with fantastical escapades in The Troop, a new original, live-action series that blends comedy with sci-fi adventures and CG animation.

The Troop series follows three ‘ordinary’ kids dealing with the existence of monsters while attending school, coping with peer pressure, parents and exams during their monster tracking adventures. It’s a comedic sci-fi thriller, with a healthy mix of adventure, laughs and chills.

Although everyone in the school/community believes that they are just average kids, in reality, Jake (Nick Purcell – Law & Order, As The World Turns), Hayley (Gage Golightly – Brothers & Sisters, The Suite Life) and Felix are actually battling (or in some cases befriending) an array of monsters on a regular basis managing their town’s paranormal population.

The series focuses on Jake, a typical teenager struggling through adolescence, who suddenly discovers a whole new existence when school counsellor Mr. Stockley (John Marshall Jones – Smart Guy, Joan of Arcadia, Melrose Place) reveals that he unknowingly aced an aptitude test for admittance into this secret, underground Troop – a centuries-old, international society that protects the world from the supernatural beings that walk among us. With an ultra high-tech headquarters hidden under the school equipped with the latest paranormal-fighting weapons, Jake and his newfound crime-fighting companions – smart, strong and pretty Hayley and socially-challenged paranormal expert Felix – battle supernatural disturbances.

“The Troop embodies Nickelodeon’s spirit of fantasy fulfillment and idea that anything is possible for kids,” said Marjorie Cohn, Executive Vice President, Original Programming and Development, Nickelodeon. “Our characters mix their everyday high school concerns with the excitement of monster hunting, which creates a fun and wild ride of comedy and thrills for our audience.”

The Troop has been nominated for a 2010 Writers Guild of America Award in the Children’s Episodic TV category.
