7:30pm – Saturday, September 4 on TV 3

Been missing your weekly dose of Top Chef? Fear not as the hit culinary series returns on Saturday, September 4th at 7:30pm on 3.

Picking up its knives where we last left off, series seven sees the Top Chef contestants face cooking challenges presented by Washington D.C.’s movers and shakers – including astronaut Buzz Aldrin, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, assistant White House chef Sam Kass, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and CIA director Leon Panetta.

What’s more, this season sees French-born chef Eric Ripert join Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons as a permanent Top Chef judge.

“He has more stars from the New York Times and Michelin than any other chef on the continent,” says series host Padma Lakshmi of Ripert. “He brings that gravitas with him.”

But even with Ripert helping decide who must pack their knives and go, according to Lakshmi, this latest batch of chefs have all managed to keep their cool so far.

“These guys are very charming, gregarious, sort of kumbaya,” she explains.

“I still think last season there was a lot of talent, but this season definitely holds up,” adds judge Tom Colicchio. “The chefs are a little more conventional this time, but we really had some great food!”

But how will they handle the heat of this week’s challenge? Find out when Top Chef returns to our screens on Saturday, September 4th at 7:30pm on 3.
