veronica-mars-movieWith the new Veronica Mars movie out (not in NZ theatres though *cough*), questions are being asked if that’s it or if there will be more movies. The good news is that at this point, it’s possible.  Creator and Executive Producer, Rob Thomas, has indicated that there are plans for more, at least.

It’s a bit of a catch up for those who haven’t seen the cult TV series but a great chance to reminisce for those who have missed this show.

Veronica MarsThis may just be the best news to come out of Hollywood this year. According to the Wall Street Journal, Warner Bros. is planning to release the Veronica Mars movie in theatres and for home viewing simultaneously on March 14.

“Veronica Mars” will be released by Warner Bros. in about 270 theatres on March 14, the same day that it is available to buy or rent online. It will mark the first time one of Hollywood’s six major studios has distributed a movie in theaters and for home viewing at the same time in the U.S.

For decades, a sacrosanct “theatrical window” protected big-screen releases from the competition of DVD sales, rentals or other distribution platforms. Under intense pressure from the largest cinema chains, which argue that such competition would take business away from them, studios usually put at least three months between theatrical and DVD or video-on-demand releases. vmarsWarner Bros. have released the official movie poster for the anticipated big-screen adaptation (due out March 14 in USA) of Veronica Mars, and it features Kristen Bell’s sleuth in all her investigative glory below the catchphrase, “She Thought She Was Out.”

The movie, with no New Zealand release date yet, will see Veronica Mars return home – just in time for her high school reunion, in order to help her old flame Logan Echolls, who has been accused of murdering his girlfriend. Continue reading »

Veronica MarsIt’s all really happening, Marshmallows: The Veronica Mars movie has a US release date, after fans raised $5.7m (USD) to get the project happening.

The cult hit’s officially titled Veronica Mars, will hit theaters on March 14, 2014 — almost exactly a year after the film’s fundraising efforts began. No word on whether the film will get an international distribution yet though. Continue reading »
