VIVA PINATA BURSTS ONTO NICK NZ
They are the ultimate in party animals – piñata’s, colourful crepe paper creatures who show up at parties around the world, filled with all sorts of treats to delight kids of all ages. Dozens of piñata species live on Piñata Island, a land full of magic and wacky happenings and the setting for the hot new show on Nickelodeon NZ, Viva Piñata, launching Friday 25th May at 5.30pm and screening every Friday at 5.30pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 2.30pm.
Already popular in New Zealand, with the launch of the Viva Piñata XBOX 360 game last December, gamers and viewers alike can now enjoy the wacky world of Piñata Island as an animated television series
In each episode the colourful Piñata creatures frolic, dance and grow. Their aim is to fill themselves with treats and once at maximum ‘candiosity’ piñatas are called to duty and dispatched from the island to delight fun-lovers everywhere … in the traditional piñata way, bashed by bat-wielding revellers.
In the Piñata garden live the crazy piñata characters such as Hudson Horstachio , the most handsome piñata of them all, Les Galagoogoo , the wisest, Franklin Fizzlybear who is practically perfect and Fergy Fudgehog who doesn’t want to party. Then there’s Langston Lickatoad who operates the cannonata, a giant piñata cannon in the centre of the island which fires off piñatas to a party on any continent. A few villains roam the island too. Professor Peters a candy thief and his henchmen The Ruffians .
From 4Kids Entertainment, distributors of Yu Gi Oh, Viva Piñata looks set to become a popular children’s brand worldwide, with plans for additional merchandise later in the year.
“Viva Piñata is a high energy show with huge mass appeal,” says Lauren Nola Nickelodeon NZ Marketing Manager. “We’ll be celebrating the launch of the television show with a fun competition involving creating a piñata from kid’s drawings and an official piñata bashing at a Nickelodeon Piñata party!”
