You can't choose your neighbours but you do have to live next to them... so why do so many display such anti-social behaviour? The Nightmares Next Door takes five diverse households and moves them into their own community, where they'll be guided by a psychological expert.

Dr George Erdos will make five households of difficult neighbours live together for four weeks in an extraordinary village he has designed and built. Miles from anywhere, Dr Erdos has total control of every aspect of the neighbour's lives.
In tonight's first episode, the nightmare neighbours arrive at the village and meet for the first time, and have to decide amongst themselves which caravan they're each going to be living in over the four weeks. All hell lets loose as they learn what it's like to live next door to people as inconsiderate at themselves. They also discover that they will be sharing limited supplies of water, electricity and food. Dr Erdos has written all the households a letter revealing that they will be sharing water and electricity supplies, and these supplies will be severely restricted. There is sufficient water for the one, gentle three minute shower per day; enough for three bowls of water each day for each household to wash dishes; and each household will have five light bulbs only for three hours every day.

It's an emotional roller coaster for all the households involved, as they not only learn to live with each other, but also deal with the subtle and cunning manipulations of Dr Erdos. In their own distinctive way, each of the households causes mayhem within the community: dogs and kids run wild; drunken parties end in chaos; shouting, swearing and pumping music shatter the peace... unlikely alliances and friendships develop alongside ferocious feuds.

But, in the end, will Dr Erdos' psychological techniques really be able to change the behaviour of these nightmare neighbours and bring peace to their troubled community?
