Trading Spouses: The Plonskers are Plonkers

March 10th, 2007

What kind of people have a "manner coach" regularly come over to teach them to which side you pass the bread? For Financial analysts, these people aren't very financially saavy. I hate to contemplate Sindi Seid's hourly rate, of course I'm sure the Plonskers received a hefty discount for advertising her services on TV. Seriously though, what sane person would pay for someone to come over the dinner and criticise them?

The Welsh family, in natural contrast, seem to be the more normal of the two, although Barry, the rocket scientist is quite "out there" to say the least.

Nevertheless, I know what family I'd rather be a part of. Particularly when I think I may have seen Ben (the 16 year old) wearing an All Blacks rugby jersey. It was blurred by the stupid show, so it's hard to know for sure.

I wonder what'll be in store for next week. And what have they done with the money?

TRADING SPOUSES
Can Sheila have an influence on the workaholic Plonskers?
Thursday, March 15th at 9.30pm

The mother of a rowdy pack of adventurous Englishmen concludes her time with a success-driven family of once and future CEOs in Trading Spouses, screening Thursday, March 15th at 9:30pm.

It seems like a fantasy at first, the ultimate chance to find out if the grass actually is greener on the other side. But the fairytale gets twisted as the new parent moves in, meets the new family and realises it may be way more than he or she bargained for.

While some parents are welcomed with open arms, others face mutiny from their new household, taking family comedy and – drama – to a whole new place.

Families on Trading Spouses each receive a US$50,000 prize for participating in the show, but unbeknownst to the participants (and their families), how the cash is spent will be up to the surrogate parent.

In this episode Sheila Welsh feels like she’s losing her battle with workaholic Jeff Plonsker - who is up and working in the wee hours of the morning.
